A MESSAGE

About the St. John the Baptist Greek Food Festival
Celebrating America 250

Welcome to one of the most beloved and well-known food festivals in the Las Vegas area. For three unforgettable days, we invite you to experience the flavors, music, and traditions of Greece in a vibrant celebration of culture, faith, and community.

Hosted by the parish family of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, our annual festival offers an authentic and welcoming experience. From the moment you arrive, you are surrounded by the aromas of freshly prepared cuisine, the sounds of live Greek music, and the joy of traditional dancing passed down through generations.

At the heart of our festival is the food. Our parishioners prepare a wide array of traditional Greek dishes using time-honored recipes rooted in family and faith. From savory favorites to handcrafted pastries and desserts, each offering reflects the warmth and hospitality that define Greek culture.

Throughout the weekend, guests can enjoy live music and folk dancing, explore a marketplace of vendors offering unique goods and artisan items, and participate in guided tours of our church. These tours provide a meaningful opportunity to experience the beauty, reverence, and spiritual depth of the Orthodox Christian faith.

This year, we are especially proud to celebrate America 250, marking the founding of our nation. As we reflect on this milestone, we honor the many cultures that have shaped our country, including the enduring contributions of Greek Americans. With roots tracing back to the ancient Greeks—whose influence in democracy, philosophy, mathematics, and the arts helped form the foundations of modern society—their legacy continues to enrich the American story.

More than an event, our festival is an expression of community. It is a place where friendships are formed, traditions are shared, and the spirit of fellowship is alive. For many, it is a cherished annual tradition. For first-time visitors, it is an experience that leaves a lasting impression.

We invite you to gather with us, to celebrate over three days of festivities, and to enjoy the food, the music, and the welcoming spirit that define who we are.

We look forward to welcoming you.

YIANNI – Yianni began his musical career at an extremely young age; matured and grew as an exceptional musician, mastering a wide variety of instruments -Although his true love for music resides in the piano, he also plays guitar, bouzouki, drums, percussion, and more.Originally trained in jazz and musical theory, he has always had a special fondness for Greek music, which has led to the unique sound of the group. As a founding member of the group, his utmost dedication is matched only by his unbelievable performing, his solid lead vocals, and the groups overall exciting arrangements.

ANDREAS – Originally a classical pianist, mastering a wide variety of compositions by Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Gershwin, and others; He has performed these pieces in front of many audiences, and thus, has gathered up a great amount of musical and live experience. He then picked up his first bouzouki, also at a young age, taught himself to play, and now favors ‘bouzouxithes’ such as Manolis Chiotis, Manolis Karandinis, and, of course, the Great Tsitsanis.Andreas’ love and passion for the bouzouki is evident every moment he is on and off the stage. His interpretations of Greek music are both unique and appealing.

DIMITRI – Dimitri owes a lot of his skillfullness on the guitar to his father, who got him started on the instrument. Dimitri essentially grew up with the guitar in his hands.Dimitri found his true passion for guitar when he began experimenting with blues and rock music; Upon joining Oneiro as a founding member, he merged his original techniques to form a lively and smooth style of rhythm guitar. His musical journey and rhythmic style adds significant influence to Oneiro’s edgy and driven rhythm section, that ultimately, is the backbone of the groups groove and drive.

SOTIRIS – Sotiri began performing at a young age, filling in with various bands throughout his youth, performing live with his father and uncle -accomplished dimotiko musicians -and even ‘sitting in’ with Oneiro for a few songs throughout theyears.More than a decade ago, he took charge of his musical growth, and contacted an old friend -the groups keyboardist, Yianni -to aid in exploring his capabilities and teach him what it takes to be a confident, polished, and capable musician. After many years of practice, dedication, and discipline, Sotiri exceeded his own expectations and became an exceptional and dedicated musician.A true asset to the group, and the ‘heart beat’ of the groups rhythm and groove.
